This is normally due to you having an old version of Outlook that was setup previously. Close Outlook.
Then go to Control panel, Mail. Delete any profiles. Now try to open outlook again.
Your control panel may need to be switched to View by: Large icons before you see the Mail icon.
I think it is working give me a couple of minutes.

I got as far as trying to enter data about aol's server and did not know what to enter
