I want to alphabetize an excel document but I have several columns for each entry that needs to stay with the name it was entered next to. How do I do this for the entire worksheet?

Hello, and welcome to JustAnswer!

Customer:

Hi

NA-eTech :

So, you want to sort the first column from A->Z but want to make sure the data in the other columns is arranged accordingly, right?

Customer:

Yes, exactly

NA-eTech :

So, press CTRL+A to select all columns, then right click and select Sort->A->Z

NA-eTech :

Make sure you do this with all cells selected.

NA-eTech :

Don't worry. If you think the result is not OK, you can revert by pressing CTRL+Z keys.

Customer:

Thanks! I'll try it now

NA-eTech :

Let me know if there is any problem. Otherwise you can click accept.

Customer:

it didn't do anything

NA-eTech :

i.e. when you clicked, Sort A-Z?

Customer:

right, CTRL +A selected all columns but when I clicked Sort A-Z it didn't do anything

NA-eTech :

Select only the data portion with your mouse and try Sort->A->Z option.

NA-eTech :

Sorry. Here is more convenient way of doing it.

NA-eTech :

Select a cell in the column you want to sort.

NA-eTech :

Then right click on it and do the sort.

NA-eTech :

This is very handy

Customer:

That worked perfectly! Thanks so much
