Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.com.

Please download and install the Recuva data recovery program, and see if it can recover your deleted .pst file.

(Make sure to select the correct drive letter when it's shown on the Recuva program.)

Please let me know. Thank you.

The recuva software did not locate the .pst file
Expert:  Viet -MS Office Tech replied 5 years ago.
Try a deep scan if needed.

Can you try another data recovery program:

Thank you.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
The file is over 3gb and this free software only recovers up to 1gb

Can you show hidden files/folders and check if your pst file is there:

windows vista/7:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files

windows xp:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/win_fcab_show_file_extensions.mspx?mfr=true

That program may be able to show you what it can find.

OK, you can try some other free data recovery programs:

Thank you.

No luck with any of these I'm afraid
Expert:  Viet -MS Office Tech replied 5 years ago.
Unfortunately, usually, if you don't use the data recovery program right away, your deleted file is already overwritten with new files. Thank you.

What files are left in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook then?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
archive.pst
Office Data File
2,013,777KB

The actual outlook.pst file was approx 3.8GB
Expert:  Molinari replied 5 years ago.
How did it get deleted?
All you have left may be in the archive.pst, do those show up in outlook?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
It got deleted during backup. I didn't take enough care when copying the file to pen drive. 100% my error through lack of concentration. Would I need to rename archive.pst to outlook.pst to see what is in there?
Expert:  Molinari replied 5 years ago.
If you open outlook if it isn't there already, you can import it...
There's usually archive folders on the lower list of folders...
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Have opened it but nothing there worth keeping. I think I'm stuffed!
Expert:  Molinari replied 5 years ago.
Did the other recovery software see it?

You can try this:

If it's seen at all, you can try these, not all of them have a file size limit like recuva...
