are you able to open your outlook in safe mode?

what is the version of your outlook? 2003 or 2007 ?

can you disable all of your add-ins.

"Tools->Options->Other->Advanced Options->Add-ins Manager..." and uncheck the Add-ins you do not need. (disable all)

now, can you close your outlook. open it again. it will be like safe mode. are you able to use your outlook now without problems ? (it must be faster now )

It is certaainly faster and so far no problem. I will shut down and try it from scratch when I was getting the problem

No luck On 3 restarts I got quickly on to inbox in safe mode but it immediately froze

No I go on to the icon on my home page I have done this for many years

can you go to START MENU > RUN.

type this: outlook /safe

and press enter. what happens ?
