RE : Rear axle. I'm trying to determine the bolt-on compatability of an AWD 2011 Mercury mariner hybrid to a 2008.
I know the part number changed, BUT is the 2011 part a bolt-in fit for the 2008?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
this means we don't do a back and forth chat?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I can have a chat depending on time.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
phone chat that is....
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

The only things that will fit yours will be a 07-2010 escape, fusion or Mariner. I am sorry but the 2011 will not fit yours.

bad answer.... not saying its wrong, just bad.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
OK the follow-up is....Can you point me to a reasonably reliable rebuilt vendor of the 2008 differential?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Jasper has none...... and that was a bad sign to me, as in they werent confident in he longevity of the rebuilds.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

Your local transmission rebuild should be able to rebuild it for you.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
no one wants to do it....
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
they will install a rebuilt
but thats it
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

I am sorry to say it, but Jasper is not very reliable on any of there rebuilds lately. If you want to get a good .low mileage unit, you can try LKQ. There number is ***** But you have to use a dealer to get one, such as your local auto repair shop.

Also, the yard that had he 2011, I wanted to buy (Nordstrom (SD) said 2008 was a single year and 209,2010, and 2011 were swappable.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

In 2011 they changed the gear and how it bolts up,.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
good to know.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
But my big issue is to find a reasonable rebuild specialist.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

The reason you are having a hard time finding a rebuilt one, is the diff will only fit 3 years. Most rebuilders will only rebuild parts that will fit 5 or more years.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

Have you called Oreiy's to see what they can do?

Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

You can also try Trans star. They may be able to help you. Here is there number. 1-***-***-****

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Not finished.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

That is ok, my pc freezes all the time too.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I don't see differentials on transtar.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

They have them. You have to call to see what they have available.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Nothing at Transtar
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I just called them.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
My question remains how to source at least a rebuilt differential, if not a low-mile, used whole rear axle.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

If you want yours rebuilt, you will have to ship it to them, but call this number, 1-***-***-****.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

That will be Differential man, he is the best I know.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.

If you want a good used unit, call Lkq, they will have one, or may be ableto get you a rebuilt one.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Im still working on it
Expert:  kalamykid replied 6 months ago.
