When you put it into park, will it hold on a hill or will it try to roll?
Have you tried driving it in neutral to see if you have o/d?
Do you have a column shifter or a floor shifter?
What size engine do you have in your car?
Do you have some one there that can help you? I would like for you to disconnect the shifter cable from the transmission and manualy shift the shifter into revers and see if it will go into revers. You will need some one that can hold the brakes for you with the engine running.
That is fine. Just let me know when you get home by posting me a message to this chat screen and I will be here to help you when you get to the car.
You are very welcome.
Can you feel the shifter click into each gear as you move the shifter? Or does the shifter move freely?
Are you saying that even when the shifter is in revers and neutral it want to pull forward?
Does it pull as if it was in drive when the shifter is in neutral or revers?
Do you have a helper that can shift the shifter for you?
Do you know where the gear selector switch is on the transmission?
The cd4e transmission is a big pain to pull out. I hate it when I have to pull them and put them back in and I have all the right tools to do the job..
Get your helper to shift the shifter for you and look in the center of the sensor. There will be a round piece in the middle. Tell me if this round metal piece turns when the shifter is seifted through the gears please.
What I need you to do next will be to take the side pan off of the front of the transmission so we can get access to the valve body.
You will loose fluid so make sure to have a catch pan under it to catch any fluid that comes out.
Once you get the pan off, look in the upper right corner and you will see the roster comb. It will have a flat spring with a roller that rides in the dips and vales. There should be a small round piece that comes off of the roster comb and will go to a round valve. See if the linkage is in place as well as see if the roster comb moves when the shifter is shifted. if the linkage has come loose or the roster comb does not move then we should be able to fix this with out pulling the trans out.
I promis you I can walk you through the repair.
But you have to promis me that you will only do what I tell you to do. I will send you diagrams best as I can as well as walk you through step by step how to fix this.
I will be online around 10 am eastern time.
I hope this will be an easy fix, but it is possible that the trans has gone bad. All we can do is test and investigate to see what is wrong with it.
