JA: What is the model/year of your Mercury?
Customer: 8/04 montego
JA: What year is your Mercury?
Customer: 2005
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes and nothing
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: no but i think i might limp it up to auto parts store about 1/2 mile away and hook it up to scanner

Get the trouble codes from the PCM (Engine Computer) first before replacing any parts. Post the codes on this page. The codes will narrow down and point us to what is causing the problem. Do not turn the key off when you get there. It will sometimes reset and clear the problem out till it happens again.
