1999 Mercury Tracer. Check engine light code P0401 - EGR insufficient flow detected. Are there any checks I can do to determine the problem?

have you checked the vacuum hose to the egr valve ?and have you checked it for vacuum .you may have to rev the motor a tiny bit to feel vacuum .
