I have a parts question. I need to replace my 2004 Mercury Monterey stereo. I found the Ford part number on the Fordparts.com website as 18806A. The used parts stores are using another number format such as: 3F2T-18C815-BE. How can I be sure I'm getting the right stereo. It matters because my van has the DVD player, rear controls, and speed sensitive volume. The VIN is 2MRDA202X4BJ08896.

Hi, I’m Chris. Welcome and thanks for asking your question!
To verify you are getting the correct part number radio. You need to remove your radio from the dash and look on the case for the label and part number from ford. There will be a engineering part number and a Ford replacement part number. To do this you need to use a dull kitchen knife and gently pry off the center finish panel around the radio. The remove the screws securing the radio and unplug everything then remove the radio from the dash.

Darn. I was hoping I could get an answer without having to pull out the radio.
I was as well Joe. I ran your vin# XXXXXXX Ford BOM but the Bill of Materials site is currently down for the weekend. I can do it again on Monday, if you want to wait. In case you did not know, you should be able to get a radio out in your lap in about 15 minutes the first time. Then the next time may only take you 2-3 minutes.
Yeah. If you can check on Monday that would be fine. I don't have the van here, but I want to go ahead and get a radio ordered so I can install it before Labor Day weekend road trip. Thanks.
Sounds good Joe, I address about 50 customers a day here, and I just might forget, can you drop me a reply here on Monday if you have not heard from me. I will be available about 1pm cst on Monday till the evening.
Sure thing. Thanks again.
Your welcome
My site came back up early. The part number you need is shown below.
