1998 mercury tracer (daughters car)no power to starter this morning, so i checked battery 12.5 volts, tried to charge battery but when i turn the ign to start it acts like im draining all the battery power. checked and replaced battery clamps, no fix. Jumped car it ran. Checked battery 14.5 volts. Put in gear car died no power again to restart

You need to double check that battery, it sounds like that's where the problem is if it takes a jump start and runs. Make sure that there is no corrosion on the battery cables too. Thanks, Ron

Battery posts cleaned and cables checked ok
Also ran fine until start up this morning.
Also died when i put it in gear
