Customer Question

My Mountaineer (2005) was running earlier. Now it does nothing when attempting to start it. Hazard lights work. Horn does not. Power driver seat does. The only light that comes on when attempting to start it is the airbag light on the dash. The Panic button on the key chain will set the horn off. Any ideas what is wrong?

greetings,

let me know if the anti theft light comes on and goes off with the key in the ignition and on. If you have a multi meter or test light we can check for power at the starter. If there is power to the starter you can try to rap it, sometimes the shock will get it to work a few more times. Let me know how many volts at the battery

lets start here

good luck

12 Volts at the Battery. The anti theft light flashes every two seconds in the on and off position. I have a "Amprobe Vpc-10" Electrical tester.

make sure the anti theft light goes out with the ignition key in the on/run position.

Big terminal should have 12 volts at the starter, smaller terminal should have 12 volts when the key is in the start position(turned all the way forward)

you will need an assistant to check this, be careful
