Have a 1993 Mecury Topaz that wont start! Have replaced fuel shut off safety switch,pulled out fuel pump and bench tested it, works fine. Fuel pump seems to work intermittently, and seems to quit when vehicle is full of fuel. Just wonering if a fuel pump will work off and on, or does it either work or not? Anything else a guy should check or replace? Thanks

Hello!Does the check engine light come on with the key on?Does it go off when cranking the engine over?If so, does it run on starting fluid?
The check engine light does come on with key on. It does go out while cranking engine. Can't hear fuel pump turn on when you turn key on. havent tried starting fluid.
Ok.. try starting fluid and let me know. Also, check to see if the fuel pump is getting power while cranking. I will be waiting for your reply!
Where is the easiest place to check for power? other than at the tank connection!

There is no power going to pump. No fuses seem to be blown.
Lets do this.. we need to run some tests to figure out what is going on.Remove the fuel pump relay. There will be four female cavities. Two out of the four should have POWER or BATTERY VOLTAGE with the key on and cranking. Lets check this first. Let me know!
