Sorry for the delay!

I am here to help diagnose your problem and add insight.

Do you have a check engine light on? Did you say the vehicle died than after waiting 30 minutes it would start again. So basically the vehicle runs good than it gets hot and dies?

Please respond asap.

Customer replied 312 days and 1 hours ago.

v asit always does as usualehicle never got hot-temperature gauge stayedat the middleno percolation or increase in coolant level-stalled and I shut key off-after arranging to drive imercuryhome and borrow a pickup to return for the trailer Irestarted the mercurywith no warnings on and it had full power and continued home at turnpike speed.

This could be a bad fuel pump or transmission issues here.

Without more information it is hard to determine the actual cause of this to happen. If the fuel pump is not allowing proper flow it will cause the condition. But if it only happens when towing this can also be related to the transmission. What it does it puts it into what is called limp home mode causing the condition you have described.

You need to have diagnostics run, testing the fuel pressure if something is wrong it will show being a few notches off. If that is good run diagnostics on the transmission checking the torque convertor clutch solenoid as this could very well be at fault here.

If they can retrive a code it will help determining the cause. When the vehicle sees something abnormal and goes into limp home mode it will present a code in the computer. Even know you do not have a light on a expensive handheld will show the codes that are from the incident. This makes for much faster troubleshooting. This is necessary on newer vehicles in which they are run off all computers and electronics. This condition is present to perserve the life of the vehicle.

Please do not leave negative ratings. If you need more information just reply instead. Thanks
