Where can I buy a manual that explains how the shows how air suspension system works, shows the components of the system, troubleshooting guide, location, replacement, etc?
Country: United StatesMake: MercuryModel: Grand MarquisYear: 2000Engine: 4.6 Already Tried: nothing yet, it is intermittent; may be connection, or dirt, or bad component.
Thanks for your question. Sorry you're having car problems, I will do my best to apply my research and supply you with an accurate answer ASAP. The parts department at your Mercury dealership will have that as well as a special order at Barnes and Noble. They can get it for you too. Hope this helps you. Thanks, Ron

Please note: not every answer I give you is something you were hoping to hear, even though it is true, such as; (it’s more expensive than you wanted to spend, or you will need to have a professional repair shop do the diagnostics and /or repairs due to complexity reasons).
Thanks, I'll contact the Ford/Mercury parts dealer to see if he can provide a manual. Do you know what the title would be to order from Barnes and Noble? I guess I can go to their site and query by subject.
I have seen a kit advertised that replaces the air system with traditional springs and shocks. Do you recommend this? Are these air suspension systems chronic problems? Would the replacement compromise the quality of the ride? Is it difficult to disable the automatic system, if I installed the kit with springs and shocks? What do you suggest?
I don't know the title of the book, it would be listed under repair manuals though. You've completely changed the question from the one I have successfully answered for you as far as where to get the manual from. Please rate me in the top 3. Thanks, Ron
I don't recommend changing anything from the stock configuration. The computer will no longer function if you do that. Ron
You answered my first question, but I figured a dealer might have a book, I should have been more specific in the question. I also figured I could google or look at book dealers, but my research only came up with a generic text on suspensions. I was hoping you would have a title, or a way to pry one loose from the mechanics. The second part, your answer was not to change from stock; I appreciate that, but I know people do it and the manufacturer has to provide some way to handle the computer issue; you didn't answer the rest of the question. Maybe I should have asked just one question, but I wanted to give some more context around what I'm looking for. Just telling me to stay stock doesn't help much. Thanks. JP

Relist: Incomplete answer.I am looking for a manual that DETAILS the air suspension system for my 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. Telling me to contact the dealer or look in a bookstore I had figured out. I need more than that. Part 2, my friends recommended an after market solution that replaces the air suspension system with standard coil springs and shocks, in the form of a kit. I asked several questions about doing such a replacement, was told not to change from stock configuration. "The computer will no longer function..." Well, ok, you're the expert, but the kits are out there, I've heard from someone who installed one, I need some more detail. They couldn't sell the kit if the computer would not function; give me some details.
Hi, I’m Chris. Welcome and thanks for asking your question!
Different tech here, do you still want assistance?
Do you want to know where to buy a manual like the techs use?
Do you have any trouble codes to see what is wrong?
Have you checked anything?
Do you just want to change to the flawless coil spring setup?
Hi, "Moose", Just got my 2000 Grand Marquis. Dealer put tires on, aligned frnt end, air suspension light came on. They were looking at the code, but it started worXXXXX, XXXXX't know what they did. Later, my son jacked the rear end up a few inches, not off the ground, forgot to turn off the suspension; when he lowered it, it went all the way to the ground, air susp light back on. drove it short distance slowly. hour later, turned the key, pump came on, car leveled, worked fine. towed a boat 1000 miles, no problem. Then, while still towing, light came on, car stayed level. Now, car drives fine, light comes on occasionally. Stop, start, light is off. There is a lot of dirt/fine gravel from the winter roads that needs to be cleaned off the underside. I suspect there is a dirty or intermittent connection, maybe to the air pump. The sensor seems to work, since it registered high when my son jacked it up, and later, it leveled the car, and has kept it level. I'm an experienced troubleshooter, and know electro-mechanical and solenoids. I'm looking for a manual that the mechanics would use to troubleshoot and repair this system. Or something similar to guide me to the components and suggestions. I do not have an obd reader; would it generate a code that is meaningful? Can you direct me to a manual, and/or some tips, guidelines for repairing? I'd like to keep this system if it is not going to be unreliable and/or expensive. What do you recommend? Thank you. John
Without a trouble code, to better pinpoint you and I to just one test to do, that means I have to post all of the tests but your not going to know where to begin.
I recommend myself swapping to the spring setup, it is still the preferred setup in the grand marquis and crown Victoria. It is flawless, you install it and no more issues occur.
