hi i have a 2000 village mercury sport van. 3.3 literThe problem started when I filled gas tank up at local gast station. The next day the car seemed to be not idleing down or sounding like it wanted to die out.The next morning when driveing car to work the engine died completley. I pulled over and waited to restart van. it started but when accerating it wasnt or didnt seem to be getting the proper gas. It didnt accerate to speed and just died out again.what do you think the problem could be?

It sounds like you might have some water in the fuel.I would start by adding an octane booster and a fuel system water remover to the fuel take. You can find both of these items at an auto parts store.I also recommend you have the van scanned for codes before you buy these items to be sure you don't have another problem. Most auto parts stores can do this for free.
the car will not stay started now to get to auto zone to read the codes is there any alturnative for that and should i still try the products
You can buy a cheap code reader they are about $50 or you might be able to rent one.I would check the codes before adding the products. Then we can go from there.
Your problem could just be a clogged fuel filter.
could it be the timeing belt ?
It could be a lot of things that is why I would like you to scan for codes first.
