how is the relay operated?
Expert:  Superbob replied 4 years ago.
When you turn the key to the start (crank) position, the ignition switch will send power through the white with a pink stripe wire to the transmission range sensor, if the gear selector is in the Park or Neutral position, and the switch is functioning correctly, the transmission range sensor will then allow the power to flow to the starter relay! the stater relay will then energize and allow battery voltage to transmit to the starter
