Customer Question

Lincoln LS 2000 - My air conditioner blows both cold and hot out of the drivers side vents. It is like the hot is coming out of the bottom ortion of the vent and the cold out of the top and middle. The passebger side blows cold when the ac is on and hot when the ac is set to heat. This started after having the thermostat changed. When the car is driven with the ac off and then turned on after a few minutes the air comming out of the driver side vents is very hot, like the heater is being made hot alll the time. Prior to having the thermostat changed the ac worked fine on both sides of the car but the heater would only come on when the temprature was set to 90 degrees, otherwise it was on ac regardle3ss of the outside temprature. The car has a dual climate control system for driver and passenger. So far i have had the control valve for the water and the coolant in the ac changed and it is OK on freon but that has not made any difference. Help

Optional Information:
Year : 2000

-Hello,

Ford has release a TSB that deals with the problem you are having and this may be caused by a faulty DCCV (Dual Coolant Control Valve), a faulty DATC control assembly, or faulty electrical circuits . I am sending the TSB for your review to help you resolve this problem. Start by making sure you have no trapped air in the cooling system.

Dear Ron,

The air has been purged from the system and everything on the TSB has been done including changing the DCCV with no luck. We are at a loss as to what to do next.

What do you recommend?

-I would go back and run thru the steps in the TSB as its very likely something was missed. Very common.

Dear Ron,

Well I finally got the car back from the shop. They did what you said and returned the valve they had gotten and replaced and got another new one and put it in.

It is doing the same thing as soon as the car warms up. It blows cold out of the passenger side and hot out of the driver side. If you are sitting at an idle it will start to cool down on the driver side but as soon as you rev the engine it will start to blow hot again.

I told the shop and they asked that I contact you see if you have any other ideas. It was blowing cold for them before I got it back and they had it set on 60 and I do not know if when I turned it up to check it out that triggered the problem again.

We are at a loss as to what it could be. The shop people are people I trust and they have done work ofr me for 15 years. They are not charging me to keep trying to sort it out so it is not like they have any interest in anyhting other than solving this incredibly frustrating problem.

HELP, Blake

-This problem is still something going on with the DCCV, they are missing something here when performing the pinpoint test.
