How do I remove the inside door panel of my 1991 Mercury Cougar LS?

Removal and Installation graphic
Remove window regulator handle (manual window) by unsnapping handle cover from base to expose attaching screw. Remove screw, handle and wear plate.graphic
  1. Remove outside rearview mirror mounting hole cover retaining screw and cover.
  2. Remove housing and switch assembly (power window).
  3. Snap out door lock switch assembly (power lock).
  4. Remove door pull handle opening filler retaining screw, and remove the filler assembly.
  5. Snap out door handle retainer cover.
  6. Remove all screws retaining door trim panel to door. Using Trim Pad Removing Tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401 or equivalent, pry trim panel retaining push pins from door inner panel.
  7. Disconnect all door wiring.
  8. If trim panel is to be replaced, transfer all push pins, window control switch cover, front door lock control knob plate and power mirroe switch to new panel. Replace any bent, damaged or missing push pins.
  9. To install, reverse Steps 1 through 8.

I will have to let you know if this is the correct answer that I am looking for. Because the drawing appear to be for a Ford Taurus. When, in fact, I am inquiring about a 1991 Mercury Cougar LS.

  1. Remove window regulator switch housing.
  2. Remove door inside handle cup (snaps out).
  3. Remove self-tapping screw retaining door trim panel upper front extension assembly. Remove extension assembly.
  4. Remove two self-tapping screws retaining door trim panel to door inner panel.
  5. Lift door trim panel upward and snap out trim panel.
  6. Disconnect wire harness for courtesy lamp.

Installation

  1. Connect courtesy lamp connector.
  2. Install door trim panel (lower portion first). Push in until it snaps in place.
  3. Install two self-tapping screws retaining trim panel to inner panel.
  4. Position extension assembly. Install self-tapping screw.
  5. Snap in door inside handle cup.
  6. Install window regulator switch housing.

Just a follow-up: Will I be able to access the window regulator for the driver's side power window? Apparently, some water froze inside the door, causing a piece of the power window assembly to disengage or become damage.

Yes, there is a plastic cover you will pull off then you will.
