Customer Question

last night I left the keys in the ignition. I guess the park lights stayed on for 30 minutes. When I went to start the car,it wouldn't start. after about an hour and a half it started up. Last night the car started driving funny, like the transmission is having issues. this never happened before the car wouldn't start.
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: the park lights
JA: What is the model/year of your Mercedes?
Customer: 2000 S 430
JA: Are you fixing your 430 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing yet. but now the check engine light is on
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no that's it

Hi Im David, before we can move forward we need to know what turned on the check engine light. take it to autozone and have them scan the computer for codes. write it/them down then let me know what they are. thank you.

ok thanks

ok, thats the transmission control system, now heres the stupid part of this. you need to take it to a shop that has a diagnostic scan tool that can interrogate the transmission control module to pull the fault codes from that. autozones scan tools dont have that capability
