I'm having a problem with a 2012 GL 450, The driver side

Customer Question

I'm having a problem with a 2012 GL 450
JA: Are you fixing your GL yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The driver side Mirror motor is stuck/binding and it will not retract
JA: How many miles are on the car? Is it an automatic or a manual transmission?
Customer: I'm assuming that one of the teeth on the gears has broken off or is worn, as it looks like the motor is attempting to engage
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

Expert:  rpmdiag replied 6 months ago.

You are correct, when they ratchet like that, they are broken internally and that means that the mirror has to be replaced, there are no kits available to repair them.

Thanks, Ron

Any idea where I can find a motorized mirror replacement, or do I have to go OEM?
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 6 months ago.

The car is too new, you need to get an OEM one.

Thanks again and please remember to rate me 5 stars and keep this link in case you need me again later on.

Do you know what the correct part number is ***** the drivers side complete assembly?
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 6 months ago.

I do not have parts numbers, only the parts department will have that at the dealer.

Thanks again and please remember that I don't get credit for helping you until you rate me.
