Are you trying to replace the brake light assembly on the trunk lid? Because if you are, the most common reason for that light going out is a wiring failure at the trunk lid hinge. The wires get broken from over use. If this is already checked, I'm more than happy to provide the instructions. I just don't want to see you waste your time and money for a very common problem with these SL models.
