Hi, my name is***** problem is typically caused by either a bad brake light switch or a bad electronic gear selector module. I'd suggest that you try replacing the brake light switch first. If that doesn't fix it you will probably need to replace the shifter. There is an emergency override for the shift lock that will allow you to move the shifter out of park so you can drive the car. THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECT LEVER IS PHYSICALLY DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION SELECT LEVER LINKAGE AND YOU CAN NOT MOVE THE ARM ON THE TRANSMISSION.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. If the lever into the transmission won't move you will need to drop the pan and remove the valve body to inspect the manual rod in the transmission. It sounds like the rod is seized or has jumped out of the guide for the lever.

BY THE WAY THE BRAKE SWITCH DOES NOT ACTUATE THE PARK RELEASE SOLENOIR ???? COULD IT BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEMz? i shure would like a wiring diagram.Bernard

Hi Bernard, if you cannot manually move the selector lever on the transmission with it disconnected from the linkage you have a mechanical problem in the transmission. If the brake switch won't release the shifter you may have a bad switch or bad gear selector. Click on the wiring diagram below.
