LEAKING Fuel injection pump in a 1986 /300GD /G WAGEN TURBO DIESEL ?
JA: What part of the car is the leak coming from? What color is the fluid?
Customer: The driver side .It's dark. I first thought it was oil . A mechanic told me
JA: What is the model of your '86 Mercedes?
Customer: European model , 6 cyl turbo diesel ?
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: A mechanic tried to change the gasket , he cut out of some material because he could not find the original one , but it is still fuming first , then leaks again
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I think he should have replaced the O rings and THE COPPER.ones .

You are not wasting your time or money I just wasn't clear on where the leak was coming from. If the leak is coming from around the individual injector barrels on the injection pump the mechanic needs to replace the o-rings and copper washers at each injector port.
