also where did you purchase the alternator from and did the old one do the exact same thing? the alternator is controlled by the ecm so you may have a faulty ecm or a poor connection.

so WHY did you replace the alternator?

THE small connector on the alternator should have a blue wire in it, that wire is going from the alternator to the right fuse block then to the sam control module which attaches to the fuse block, it should have 12v at all times when the engine is running.check that wire. make sure the connection is good and the pins are not burnt
