I have an 2000 E Class Mercedes and when I put the key in the ignition I get a "remove key" message and the switch will not turn.

The problem you are describing can be caused by any of the following,

  • Defective Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS)
  • Malfunctioning Electronic Steering Column Lock Module
  • Defective Key
