Customer Question

I have an 07 ML320 CDI. it stalled and will not restart. I did replace the crank sensor due to a scanner reading on RPM of 167. It still reads 167. What should the reading be? also what should high pressure fuel reading be on scanner while cranking? Thank you

Hi and Welcome to Just Answer! RPM reading of 167 is OK

diesel engines do not have issues with Crank sensors gas engines do.

Fuel rail pressure should go to and above 800 psi

Have you tried starting fluid? use brake cleaner spray as it is less volatile then starting fluid for diesel. if you have not try it as you observe rail pressure! let me know!

Regards Pavlin!

The fuel rail pressure is around 1000 while cranking. What else do I check if is fires on fluid. The lift pump has approx 100 psi but does not hold it. The fuel rail pressure does not hold either

your rail pressure is good, it sounds like Engine computer, and Fault codes?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Fault code 2211
Expert:  Hipo64 replied 1 year ago.

I can not find this code in my data base, is there any description of that code?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can't remember I am not home at this time. I can relay that info in the A.M.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Code 2636 came up. Fuel rail pressure too low
Expert:  Hipo64 replied 1 year ago.

I thought you say say there are 1000 psi when cranking, please check all 15 amp fuses in front right side of engine compartment. If you have blown fuse, please let me know what is the fuse number

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I do have up to 1200 psi cranking. No fuses blown did find one missing in 119 spot says its for CDI unit still no fire

well in this case I guess your ECM is having internal failure(injector driver)

it is located in passenger side will well, between fender and vehicle body, remove wheel well cover and you will see it

check all power and ground supply, if all good you need another ECM.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK that's where I will go next. Thank you
Expert:  Hipo64 replied 1 year ago.

You're welcome, please let me know what you have found! Best regards

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I did find out there is not an ECM in the country. Backordered
Expert:  Hipo64 replied 1 year ago.

The ECM has to cloned if used or programmed if new, otherwise vehicle will not start . check all powers and grounds before replacing it.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi I found a used ECM. How can I get it cloned
Expert:  Hipo64 replied 1 year ago.

This is not so easy, you need to find someone that can read and copy the the original computer and transfer this info into the new one. ther is a company called bba reman. contact them at

www.bba-reman.com

Best of luck, Pavlin!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I will check that out. Thank you
