Car starts fine runs minutes and quickly stops running

Customer Question

car starts fine runs for two minutes and quickly stops running as if theirs a kill switch going off
but if I start it and keep rpm up at 1500 plus stays running and engine sounds strong
this is a 1988 190 e 59,000 miles

Check the over protection relay for a blown fuse and if this is o.k. this may be an issue with the engine coolant temp sensor sending an incorrect signal causing this here.
