Hi Bert, on this model there is an overvoltage protection relay located at the back of the engine compartment in the module area. Check the fuse in the top of the relay and see if it is blown. If the fuse is blown you will not be able to start the car.

Let me know what you find.

Hi Marty:

Ok the car was built 07/90 and I took some pictures which I will attach which show the actual door tag and the dashboard lights with the key turned on.

Also I removed the air cleaner and had my friend shoot some starter fluid in which I tried to to start the car, but even with that it did not fire at all.

Hope this helps!

If it won't try to fire on starting spray I would check for spark from the coil. If you have no spark from the coil you may have a bad crankshaft position sensor. If you do have spark from the coil I'd inspect the distributor cap and rotor. This motor is notorious for the cap and rotor shorting out and causing a no start. I'd also remove and clean or replace the spark plugs. You could also verify that the fuel pumps are running underneath the car at the right rear while a helper cranks the motor. I can call you on the phone and walk you through the testing a lot faster if you would prefer. I've sent an additional service offer if you would like me to do that.

Hi Bert, I'm just following up with you on the Mercedes. Did you ever get it running?

Marty
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Hi Marty:

Turned out to be a bad coil wire...it just happen to go bad after the battery cable

was removed and that is what made me not check for spark right away.

Thanks for the follow up!
