Country: AustraliaMake: Mercedes-BenzModel: 190D Already Tried: 1986 year tried to work out how to remove it
hi, i'll be happy to help you in anyway i can.
can you get the key to turn into position #1 (accessory) ?
thats good news,
the job is much more difficult if not.
heres the procedure, you have the first version with the single pin to release the collar
yours is a little different because its a diesel and has a vacuum valve on the side for shutting the engine off.
they key is everything including pulling the electrical plug off the back is done in position #1.
let me know if you have any further questions.
did you click on the image?
ok, so the pictures and work instructions came through but are unclear?
ok, so let me try to walk you through it.
pull the instrument cluster, you may find it necessary to pull the steering wheel to do this.
turn the ignition switch to position #1, insert a large paper cllip in the hole in the tumbler just below the key.
unscrew the collar around the tumbler and pull the tumbler collar and key out of the lock.
uplug the electrical potion off the back of the lock.
loosen the 10mm pinch bolt on the lock.
depress the pin on the front of the lock that goes through the sleeve on the steering column.
remove the lock.
transfer the shut off valve and electrical potion and the cam inside for the shut off valve to the new lock reassemble.
does that help?
