I just installed a new battery in my 2003 ML500 my VIN# XXXXX XXXXX I thought my code was 31132. Please help me if you can.

Hi, I can check the radio code associated with your VIN number in the morning but if you have already done that and the code doesn't work your radio has most likely been replaced at some point and the code was never updated in the Mercedes database. If that is the case the radio will need to be removed to get the serial number from the radio to look up the code.

as far as I know the battery has not been replaced and I assume that the code is correct. I found it in a service manual on a white sticker along with the VIN# XX I thought it was the security code

What you posted is a radio code. If the radio was asking for the security code and you punched it in and pressed OK and it didn't work I would have to think that the code is incorrect.

ok...I thought that may be the case. You stated that you may be able to get the correct code tomorrow? Is that correct?

I will run the VIN number in the morning and see if I come up with the same code that you have. If it comes up the same then the radio will need to be removed to get the serial number.

ok great... I purchased the car for my wife last August and the dealer did not mention any changes but if it is not then we will take the next step. should I wait until your response to give the rating?

Yes wait until I reply in the morning. In the meantime you need to leave the key turned on to the first click and leave the radio turned on until WAIT changes back to CODE.

ok...I did leave the key in and it did change back to code...thank you for your help.
