The radio in my wife's 2001 e320 4matic is asking for a code. Could someone please get me one? the Vin is wdbjf82j71x049128. By the way, the radio was not disconnected from the battery and the battery was never dead. One morning she got in the car and the display on the radio showed "CODE". Not sure what to think about that.

Hi, your radio code comes up as 41343
I'm not sure what to think about the radio asking for a code either. If it takes the code I would wait and see if it happens again. You might have a radio going bad.
Let me know how you make out.

The code did not work. To be specific, I entered in the code and then pressed the resulting OK button. The display would then go back to showing CODE. I entered it in enough times for the radio to display WAIT. What else can we try?
Hi Chris, if your radio was replaced at some point in the life of the car it's possible that the code on file was never updated. The only thing you can do now is remove the radio and give me the serial number from the radio and I can look up the code that way. This way we will be sure that we have the correct code. In order to remove the radio two radio keys are required to slide into the slots at the bottom of the radio to release it. Click here for the keys. Since this radio went to code all by itself it's possible that the radio is bad but we have to verify that the code we are using is correct.
Ok. I'll see if I can pull the radio and get you the SN. Thanks for your help!
You're quite welcome. I'll wait to hear from you.
Hi there. I've pulled the radio and it's SN is Y1058332, Becker model BE3309. It says "Original Replacent Part" on the top of the unit, so it must be a replacement.
Hi, the radio code is 43312. Let me know how you make out.
Got it! Thanks for your help.
