I did notice that when I turn the car off and start it again it will shift as it is supposed to. So I avoid messing with the shifter I'm guessing it is something electronic. It normally shifts thru all the gears up and down. any help?

eurotec :

Hi, when a malfunction is detected by the transmission computer it will put the transmission into a limp home mode. When you turn the car off and on again it resets the transmission computer. This could be a fault in the electronic selector module sending an erroneous message to the transmission control unit or it could be a fault within the transmission control unit itself. Whenever this happens a fault code is registered in the transmission control unit. You will need to have the fault memory of the control unit read in order to determine which is the problem. The codes will point to the specific fault.

eurotec :

Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help.

Customer :

Is it relatively safe to say it is probably not a transmission replacement At 42,000 miles?
