Country: United KingdomMake: Mercedes-BenzModel: 310d sprinterYear: 1998 Already Tried: the turbo has been taken out and repaired
Hello,What is the color of smoke? When does it occur?
regards,Stan
the smoke colour is a dark grey and its really heavy when i excellarate
Is there also a noticeable oil consumption?
No andThe engine seems to be running fine
Usually grey smoke is due to oil. Besides the turbo, it can get in due to clogged crankcase breathing or valve stem seals. But then engine would be using at least a liter of oil per 1000 kms.So if there is no oil consumption and intake is not oiled up- please have the injectors tested at diesel service center.
Poor injection pattern can cause such smoking as well.
I Know its a daft question but do you thinks it would be worth repairing or should I just scrap it
regards kenny
If there is no oil consumption, and injectors test out to be faulty- it is worth rebuilding the injectors
many thanks kenny
