Hi, you are going to need the special tool to hold the pulley or devise some way of keeping the pulley from turning while you loosen the clutch. Click here for the workshop instructions.
The belt may offer enough resistance on the pulley so that you can insert your allen socket and break loose the center bolt of the fan clutch.
my fan clutch has a black plastic guard on the front that prevents me from getting to the center nut.
The plastic cover has a whole in the center where you insert your tool.
mind does not have a hole in the center. It has a peice cut out of the side that let me see something that a screw driver might fit.
If your cover has no hole you will need to unclip the plastic cover to access the center bolt.
They all remove basically the same way. Click here for another set of instructions that pertain to all the models. Scroll down to the W140 model for your car.
had to use a small mirrow. the hole is in the center as you stated. my bad. lol
