ignition lock out. New key has not helped.
Hi, can you explain the problem? Does the key turn in the ignition?
Have you checked fuse 27 for the steering lock?
Have you let the new key sit in the ignition for 20 - 30 minutes?
Ok, assuming that the battery is fully charged you're pretty much stuck without Star Diagnosis to view the actual values of the system. You could have a bad electronic ignition switch or a bad electronic steering lock. You need to view the data stream to see where you are losing it. You can try tapping on the ignition switch and on the steering lock and see if that helps the situation but aside from that you need the Mercedes tester to diagnose the system from here.
Car was parked by valet and when I returned to pick it up the old key would not turn in ignition.
It's possible that the ignition switch was damaged if the valet tried to force the ignition off without having the car in park. It's really hard to say.
Do you have anything else to add?
There is really nothing more that you can try short of tapping on the units. You need to be able to see the communication between the key, the EIS and the ESL in order to know what is wrong.
I wished that you might be abled to help me!
Thanks for trying
I wish I could do more. Try the tap test. You might get lucky.
