Hi, you must rotate the key to position 1 and depress the lock pin on the steering lock to slide it from the column.

It is the part that the ignition switch is attached that goes into the steering column. It must be for the steering lock. The part number is XXX-XXX

The steering lock will not part from the column. There is a clamp around steering lock at the base, next to the column. We have loosened the clamp. The steering lock shaft, part #10 in your pictures, will turn but we can not remove it from the steering column. We need to remove it so that we can bring the column up to change out the steering coupler. What is your suggestion?
I don't replace the coupling that way I remove the steering box and replace it from below. Are you pushing in on the lock pin with the punch when you try to remove the lock?
