My fiancé and I are in couples therapy. He had a verbally, emotionally, and physically abusive father and a mother who allowed it to continue until he was 18. She would also fly off the handle herself and completely ignore him for a day or so if he did something she didn't like. Now he is verbally and emotionally abusive with my children and me. He bullies and humiliates. He is also very controlling. He demands we all do chores everyday and nothing we do is ever good enough. The counselor and I feel like he is stuck. He keeps deflecting in our sessions and can't seem to understand what we are trying to say to him. My question is this: Is there an intensive treatment program for a controlling person with impulse control and anger issues? He is angry all the time. If not, what would your treatment suggestion be? Thank you
