Ask a Psychiatrist and Get Answers to Mental Health Questions ASAP
Hello ! Thank you for your question, I’m Dr. Vikas (M.D Psychiatry) and I’ll try to help you today.
Yes, it can be treated.
Are you willing to take medicines for this purpose. In my view, SSRI antidepressants like Sertraline or Fluoxetine can be very helpful in controlling it. The other possible option is to try psychotherapy.
are you also experiencing sadness, anxiety or any other symptoms you would like to mention in addition to what you have mentioned?
no other symptoms - don't like the sound of taking drugs
OK, in that case, there are again two possible options. First one is to consult a psychologist near you for counselling.
the other option is to try Cognitive Behavior Therapy online and see if it helps.
you can try free online CBT via few websites from your home.
Do you want me to give you a link to those website?
However, in my opinion, you should consult a psychiatrist also for this problem if it is significantly affecting your day to day life.
Thanks Doc, I'll give it a try.
