I have been taking 1mg of Klonopin every evening for 5 months.

I have been taking 1mg of Klonopin every evening for 5 months. I would now like to stop taking the drug due to the cause of my anxiety is no longer living in the area. How should I stop taking this drug?

Klonopin has a rather long half life meaning that it stays in your body for up to 50 hours after a dose- this means that you have to wean off slowly even though 1 mg is a small dose.





You should wean off by cutting the pill in half and then in half again.







Reduce to .75 mg for 1 week







.50 for 1 week







.25 for 1 week and the off..........







the 4th week you can go every other day if needed until off.....






Therefore, this will take 3-4 weeks and all should be fine.
