I make so many mistakes whenever I couldnt sleep well the

Customer Question

I make so many mistakes whenever I couldn't sleep well the night before. It's not the ordinary level of making mistakes, but it seems like almost symptoms of dementia. I have an experience of having taken medicine for schizophrenia. After having taken that medicine(abilify) for 4 years or so, my cognitive ability got really bad, so I stopped taking that medicine, but I still have many troubles in remembering things and doing simple activities. The most serious problem is that I become nearly an idiot the day after I couldn't sleep or I drank alcohol. My cognition gets extremely worse.
I want to know the reason and find some solutions.

Dr. Rossi :

Hi,

Dr. Rossi :

Psychotropic medication can cause changes in REM sleep. Lack of restful sleep (sleep deprivation) can cause psychosis.

Dr. Rossi :

It may be helpful to have a sleep study conducted to determine if there are any sleep conditions present.

Dr. Rossi :

In the event that there is a sleep disorder such as REM sleep disorder, the neurologist conducting the sleep study, can suggest something to improve it.

Dr. Rossi :

Poor sleep/lack of REM can impair one's memory and other cognitive functions.

Dr. Rossi :

There are different neutotransmitters associated with memory - dopamine, norepenephrine as well as hormonal changes, thyroid malfunction and lower b vitam levels. Besides a sleep study, your physician may want to rule some of these out as well.

Dr. Rossi :

There are some natural options used to improve memory such as Pregnenolone, Piracetam 800, DHEA, use of GAMMA brain waves hemisync audio stimulation
