Hi there,

I empathize with you as you do seem to be in great distress but on a brighter side there is a solution for your condition.

Well, you see all your symptoms such as feeling angry and irritable, cranky , spiteful and depressed are part of your underlying depression , so once this underlying depression is managed , all of these symptoms will also go away.

I can see that you have tried counseling , which indeed helps, but it's effects take longer time to bring out a change in the depressed state and you will not like to wait for this much time as the symptoms are causing you great distress.

So, i suggest that you get yourself started on an anti depressant drug like lexapro ( escitalopram ) at dose of 10 mg / day t be taken in morning or zoloft at dose of 50 mg / day to be taken in the morning. Any one of these two drugs shall be chosen and started and you shall start appreciating the posiitve effects of the drug and start feeling improvement in your condition in a week or two duration but for complete recovery you shall have to take the drug for 3-4 months.

A word of caution , if you are breast feeding your child then you should not use this drug as it is secreted in the mother's milk and can be transferred to the child and cause toxicity. If this is the case the drug option is not for you and you then have only the option of counseling specially CBT, that is Cognitive Behaviour therapy from a clinical psychologist.

Kindly discuss the drug options with your family doctor and get the drug started provided the condition of no breast feeding applies.

I hope this helps..

Wish you all the best..

Please give me a positive rating if you are satisfied with the answer as only then will i be credited for my service.

Regards..
