I have had a chronic itch over much of my body for many years. Dematologists have not been able to treat it to the extent that I no longer itch. I scratch until there is bleeding much of the time. I find it difficult to stop scratching even if it is painful. What can I do? The areas that itch the most are my
arms, shoulders, legs and feet.

I have not heard of Morgellons disease.

I thought I was posting to medical, but perhaps mental health is appropriate.

Do you think this is a psychosomatic reaction due to your stress level?

Morgellons is a relatively new conditions studied by the CDC.


There are different ways to manage stress/anxiety. One would be working with a counselor or using neurofeedback. Other options are meditation, exercise or resorting to anything that you've found helpful in reducing your stress. Even joining a support group in your area through may be helpful and supportive.


Hypnotherapy can help one manage stress as well as physical sensations/pain/itching. Some insurance covers this and may be something to look into if you've not tried it so far.
