I have been having a lot of weird behaviors lately. I have had depression for years, and at times I didn't leave my home.
In the past couple of years it has become much worse. I have been injuring myself by banging my arms, act. and bruising that has pain and bruising for quite a while. Recently I have starting making wounds on my legs and arms with a knife. I do this when I am frustrated with a family member. Recently I have trow and broken things around the house, including the bathroom sink. I am under the care of a psychiatrist but something is terribly wrong.
Six months ago, when I move the Dr had me on cymbalta, klonipin, and wanted to get me off 15 mg of remeron. Also, 60 mg of Lamotrigine.
This Dr has changed things around a little but not enough to make be totally depressed and angry 4-5 days a week????

Seeking expert counseling is a sign of strength. A personal relationship with a caring professional is proven clinically effective.

Dear friend,

I am so sorry that you are suffering so much from this depression and social phobia This could be a reaction to trauma or abuse, neglect, or abandonment you have suffered earlier in life.

Your approach has been purely medical, or mostly medical. You are talking to a doctor that has perhaps not had training in psychotherapy, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which I believe would help you a great deal.

Drugs suppress symptoms. They can just deaden your spirit but don't get down to the basic causes.

I strongly urge you to find an experienced psychotherapist whom you find empathetic and intelligenct and start some therapy sessions with this new clinician. You may still need some adjunctive medication, but this new approach might make a world of difference to you, and encourage the healing process.

I wish you great success.

Warm regards,

I have absolutely no idea how to find a therapist with those credentials! I am on medicare for mental disibility, and I have been told that I have mood disorder, maybe a certain bipolar, and most recent, PTSD. My Mom died when I was 17. Why would I be having such violent behavior, this late in life.
I Become very upset and angry if I can't reach my husband because I worry about what he is doing, due to his past.
My daughter who is an RN says I have 7 of 8 questions about having bipolar. I do not know what the question are, but maybe I do!
I often have suicidal thoughts, and tried a few years back when I was still drinking??? Thanks
Dear friend,

Tell me where you live, or your zip code and I will find you one or several therapists to choose from, in your area.

Warm regards,
