I am depressed. 54 year old female. Great job, friends, but lacking joy in my life. Not suicidal but do find myself thinking about it sometimes but wouldn't do it to my children. Counseling doesnt seem to help. Do I need a psychiatrist?

I apologize, we are having site problems with our chat so I switched to the Q&A mode. I am very sorry to hear that you received a diagnosis that sent you into severe depression. This is not what counseling is supposed to do! Let's back up and sort through this. I am not going to diagnose you! Tell me why you went to counseling a year ago.
