Doctor Rao : Hi,I think you made a right decision.Diazepam works well in the short term for anxiety or agitation but in the long term can be very addictive.
Doctor Rao : If you problem is anxiety, I would suggest to contact your GP and seek some help
Doctor Rao : There are other ways of helping with anxiety..In the form of selp help books, psyhcological therapies. However if the medication is needed some SSRI are helpful. You can discuss thes emotions with your GP.
Doctor Rao : Another important observation we made was,if the medication is not prescribe day the doctor an dordered from a genuine pharmacy the quality of medication is often questionable.
Doctor Rao : As you have taken only a day or two , it is not difficult to come off from them. So, your first priority is to come off from them and see you your GP to discuss the options.
Doctor Rao : Hello, I hole you are getting my messages
Doctor Rao : I hope you are getting my messages..Do you want to ask for any specific information?
Doctor Rao : There are some non habit forming alternatives to Diazepam. If the indication is sleep, one can try Promethazine which is effective for insomnia in the short term period. If the indication is for anxiety, one can consider SSRI, Clonidine after speaking with your GP . If you want any further information please do not hesitate to ask me.If you find the answer helpful, Please Accept the answer. .I wish you all the best. Thank you.
Customer :

i just wanted to know if i can taper

Doctor Rao : Yes.you certainly can paper. The usual process is to reduce 2mg every week.By this way the withdrawal symptoms are manageable.
Customer :

where are you?

Customer :

are you there?

Doctor Rao : Yes
Doctor Rao : How can I help
Customer :

sorry i thougt ud gone. with tapering do you start from 10mg and work down to 5mg. how does it work? the consistency

Customer :

what is Promethazine and also Clonidine?

Doctor Rao : Hi.
Doctor Rao : Ok, with tapering yes, you work from 10 mg to get down to 5 mg gradually. Then you reduce by 2mg..but if you want to do the existing 5 mg tablets, can half the tablet and stop after a week to ten days
Doctor Rao : The Promethazine is an antihistamine with strong sedative property. So, it is helpful for sleep and no major risk of dependence
Customer :

Hello, What is the strength in mg of the Diazepam you have brought?

have you been prescribed this or anything similar before?

what was the source of the diazepam ie chemist, friend or internet?

what is the reason you are wanting to take them?

I can see you have only been taking them for 2 days, there is no need whatsoever to taper or reduce the dose in stages if you have only been taking them for 2 days.

do not start at 10mg as advised to taper down if you have been taking a smaller dosage than this.

10mg is a significant dose for people who are naieve to benzodiazepines and would likely cause oversedation rather than the desired relief of anxiety.

please post me back the information requested.

Thanks

Tony
