Hello,

Thanks for your question. I'm happy to help.

It sounds like you might be suffering from social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia.
This can be the case especially if you feel frequently anxious or nervous in social settings.
You can learn more about this disorder and its treatments here :
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001953/

Working with a therapist who specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy can help you overcome this problem. If you're interested, you can read more about this treatment and find a practitioner here :
http://www.nacbt.org/whatiscbt.htm

I hope that helps. Good luck.

Hi again,

You'd need to speak to a psychiatrist to discuss specific medications. However, most commonly, drugs known as ssris are prescribed to alleviate the symptoms. Remember that medication is not a cure and that a combination of medication and psychotherapy is usually best.

You can read about the medications typically used here :

Best wishes.
