Hello,
I would like to help you with your question.
At age 22 it is fairly common to day dream and to lose focus.
I do understand how this impacts your life and how you may want to find better ways to cope.
Tell me a little more about this impacts you?
just ive stayed away from anything requiring study for a while and looking to continue on but have been scared to do so cause in my mind i have the thought of failure
i failed yr 12 even though i was top student, just couldnt concentrate but yet could do maths and science problems no worries
Fear of failure is a very common.
also at work i drift off in conversation and never remember what was said, and reading also can read 2 or 3 pages without realising it hadnt sunk in
Did you go back and finish grade 12?
also i somehow sabotage relationships through over think and i know im doing it but cant help it
no never pased
All of this depends on concentration. And...sometimes...when you are not paying attention it does not "stick" I can send you some information about this.
passed*, thought it was a lost cause
that would be good thanks
So...just to check...you did pass 12 grade.
no
okay.
never passed sorry
i went straight into work
which i now am starting to hate but dont want to really leave it for a 50/50 chance of study
The thing to remember is that from age 12 to age 25 your brain is "under construction" -
This is a biological function. It applies to all people!
ok, but things come easier to some then others?
So...while your brain is under construction it is not easy to focus, to make good decisions, and so forth.
i think alot, its just weird i cant direct it
Well...some people just work harder at this and because we are all different some people may be better at this than others.
What do you think about?
ok so theres techniques for it, just i want to start study to be a pilot , but fears of failing and also kind of sounds stupid nut fear i will drift off one day flying a plane
if i make it that far
and its alot of money and its been the back of my head for a while
Please look on the Internet for "fear of failure" there are likely some articles and I know there are some books.
ok, and finally the over thinking thats to do with concentration?
It could be.
i always play out lots of outcomes in my head hard to switch off, its usually when i want to sleep
Okay. So there are thought stopping methods that you can use. Look that up on the internet as well.
So is it hard to get to sleep at night?
used to be every night, but i work grave yard now, sometimes its hard, sometimes im just that exhausted it doesnt stop me sleeping
if im dating its hard
or anyhthing new happens
So do you have any routine you follow when you go to sleep?
but i think i answered my own question could be fear of failure playing on my mind, yes im on a routin, its probably better routine now
Very good.
Yes...fear of failure is very very common.
It is the unknown and then we pressure ourselves because we want to be successful.
ok thankyou, you have been very helpful, i shall read up on the concentration stuff and fear of failure stuff, hopefully thats the fix
