I got a DUI, and have been on 2-3 mgs of Xanax for years. After the DUI, now my Dr. wants to take me off my Xanax, albeit he has been tapering me off for 2 months. I still have social anxiety, and general anxiety. I don't think think I'll be able to function without something for the anxiety. Is he just doing this to cover himself, and not lose his license or get in big trouble? I have the feeling that he much more concerned about himself, than my problems.

Good evening,Your doctor may seem more concerned about himself than your problems, however, he would not lose his license or get in big trouble for prescribing a medication. When he learned about your DUI he probably became concerned about you drinking and taking Xanax because this medication increases the effects of alcohol.
