4 months before I retired from 33 plus years of Federal Government

Resolved Question:

4 months before I retired from 33 plus years of Federal Government employment I started drinking wine to deal with stress. It's now been almost a year since I've retired and I can't seem to stop drinking wine daily. What is the best way to stop this? Is there a diet or vitamin/mineral regiment that would help take away the cravings?

Hello, I am a psychiatrist.

To answer your question, there is no vitamin or dietary supplement that will decrease your cravings for alcohol. However, Naltrexone and Campral are two medications that are often very helpful at decreasing cravings for alcohol. They are certainly well-worth discussing with your doctor.
