Which of the following is not an appropriate or legally recognized methid of distinguishing among the indigenous people groups in the Western Hemisphere?

a. enrollment: being recordeed as a member of a recognized tribe

b. genetics: Having a certain percentage of native American blood as established Federal Register of the United States

c. community recognition: fo example, being recognized a Indian or by other Indians

d. degress of assilmilation. because of the impact of relocation and intermarriage on Native American, they cannont be broken into dintinct tribal or clan units

D. Assimilation can be vastly affected by outside factors (such as adoption of an indigenous person). But they can still claim their indigenous status through enrollment, genetics, and community recognition. Levels of assimilation can also change during ones lifespan (such as changes in psychological motivations to identify with their culture or with the mainstream culture), which should not affect their ability to claim membership in a certain population. Also, assimilation is usually measured by an outside person, and therefore more subjective than the other three methods.
